Tuesday ...

We actually had a pretty darn good day!  Carla has peed, and peed and peed and peed, and due to all her peeing, her levels are just where they want them to be!  And, her lungs have dried up considerably as well!   They have come down on her Presidex (sp?), which is a sedative, so she has opened her eyes a few times, tried to focus for a little while and then falls back to sleep.  One time she opened her eyes, touched her vent tube and then pointed at the door.  I said, "Do you want that hose to go?"  and she nodded her head, yes.  I can't blame her!  The nurses keep remarking about what a good girl she is.  One even said "I've taken care of thousands of kids and I've never seen a kid be so good with the tube....I've never seen a 5 year old who listens so well..., etc."  They are really happy that she's not trying to rip her tube out.  We have been told that her arms don't have to be restrained so long as we are at bedside, making sure she isn't ripping her tube out.  So, we've been at bedside all day (as we are every day) and she hasn't even tried.  One of the nurses also said that Carla's numbers, blood gasses and levels are so good that she is "showing off."  Pretty sweet.  Here's to hoping that she continues to be a total Rockstar and that she can successfully get off the vent soon.  I can't wait to  see her acting like herself!  We have been missing her Carla-isms more than you can ever imagine!  We also miss snuggling her up!

Please continue to pray for Carla's healthy lungs, healthy heart and healthy body!  I'm just positive that all the prayers have made such a huge difference for her!

Lots of Love,
Jen

So your little girl has made me tear up again.. So happy that things have improved for her. One day people will realize they can't mess with a mama bear, or they'll just face a life time of getting 'bitch slapped!" :-) We'll continue to check in on her progress and will definitely include her, her donor family, and you in our Thanksgiving prayers.
