Cardio Update..and Carlaisms...

Carla saw the cardiologist this morning before school.  She is getting bigger all the time!  She has gained a pound and a half, and is up to 38.58 pounds, she is 3'4", her oxygen level was at 84-85 and everything looked and sounded good.  What's cool is watching the way she has become such a Rockstar at Seattle Children's.  She was so well known in Salt Lake, and so leaving Salt Lake for new doctor territory was quite  difficult.  But, sea level has done a body good.  At home our elevation is around 3600 feet.  In Salt Lake the elevation is about 4500 feet.  Her O2s hung out around 79% at home.   Here in Seattle she hangs out around 83-85% and sometimes even higher!    And you might wonder what a difference a couple of O2 points can make???  It makes a big difference in her coloring, in Seattle her lips are pink, at home they are purpleish... It also makes a big difference in the amount of clubbing in her fingers. At home her fingertips are much more purple and bulbous (that's what clubbing is).  Here, they are somewhat purpleish and less bulbous.

When we were at the hospital today people were just peeking in so they could "See the Princess." And when we dropped her off at school one of the ladies there said to us that everyone who meets Carla wonders how so much cuteness could get into one person!  It made me feel really good ... a Mother never gets tired of hearing about how adorable, or smart or funny her kid is.  My big concern is always trying to keep Carla a little bit grounded, because she has a tendency to charm her way into getting whatever it is that she wants.  And, speaking of that... !!!  After picking her up from school today Carla says: "I would like some ice cream."  Daddy says: "You had ice cream yesterday, we can't get ice cream every day."  Carla's retort: "I just want ice cream today, I won't have any more for the rest of the week, just say yes! I really want to try that clown ice cream."  (Baskin Robbins has an upside down ice cream cone with decorations that looks like a clown.) After some more negotiating...

She got the ice cream clown, ate about 1/2 of it and then needed a bath!  She sure does have some fine negotiating skills.  I'm thinking Carla for President, JUST SAY YES can be her slogan!
