Cardiologist Appointment

We saw Dr. Ruggerie again this morning to monitor how Carla's plural effusion is doing. First, we did x-rays, then we came back to the doctor's office and Carla and her Daddy put together a puzzle, Nurse Tammy came and took Carla's vitals and after she left Carla got on the doctor's chair and I spun her around ;) Dr. Ruggerie then came in, spoke with us for a little bit and then moved us on to the echo...after everything was said and done, Dr. R. said that Carla's plural effusion is the same as it has been...they can take anywhere from 2 weeks to 10 weeks to be re-absorbed by the body. Carla has about 4 oz of water on her right lung...it doesn't seem to be bothering her heart any and her pulse ox is back to 86. Dr. R. is going to consult with the Drs. in SLC and decide whether or not to drain that lung off or let it be. I am personally leaning towards get rid of the water before is does cause a problem...but we will see what the professionals think ;)

I am so pleased to report that Carla did so very well at the doctor's office. She has become an old pro about what needs to be done and doesn't really put up a fuss about anything. She likes Dr. Ruggerie and actually called him "Papa Dr. Ruggerie" the last time we saw him. Amazing how much she has grown in the last year!

Carla was such a good girl when she had her echo this time. She just laid there and watched Winnie the Pooh....how sweet :)
