Cody's basketball season is closing in on the end, we have a game tonight, tomorrow and then Thursday and Friday games in Shelby for Districts. After that, basketball will be all done with for the season. It's funny how fast time has been flying by! Seems like the school year just started and now it is more than half over! Before we know it Cody is going to be done with high school and off to college or work or both. Yikes! The good news is that I think he is turning into a nice young man, so we think he will do well in life. We are so proud of him and know that he can do whatever he sets his mind to.
Carla is attending her 3rd day of preschool today. The first day she went she cried and hyperventilated a little bit because whenever another child gets upset and cries; she gets even MORE upset and hyperventilates! She is a very empathetic 2 year old...I know, sounds like an oxymoron, but it is true! Due to the fact that Grandma & Papa own the preschool crying and hyperventilating resulted in going to McDonalds...After McDonalds Carla was ready to give school another try. When she got home that day she slept for about 3 1/2 hours...she was exhausted! On Tuesday she had her 2nd day of Preschool. I ended up picking her up an hour early, because she was falling asleep on the floor. After I got her home she caught a second wind and then never would take a nap! Silly girl. I am hoping today that she makes it through the whole 4 hours without melting down and that when she gets home she takes a nice long nap to recouperate! Being around other children is definitely something different for her. She has never been with more than 1 child her age at a time, and not very often. So, being in a class with 6 or 7 other little kids, with about 40 other little kids in the building is a bit overwhelming for her. I don't think that it helps that Papa is checking on her every (probably 10 minutes) and then when she sees him she wants to go and be with him. I guess Carla's teacher had a little talk with him about that ;) I think it is sweet though. But, she does need to get adjusted and learn to play and interact with other children. That is the whole purpose of taking her to preschool. Mom said that she plays more like an 18 month old plays. So, she most definitely needs the interaction. The things we have noticed about her since she has gone to 2 days of school are this. 1) She sings the ABCs at the top of her lungs and 2) she sings twinkle twinkle little star at the top of her lungs. Her words seem to be a little easier to understand. So, all in all I think preschool for 4 hours a day twice a week has been good. Anyway, I had better run! Here are some pictures from this past Thursday night.
